Jim Corbett - time spent with wildlife

                                                         Jim Corbett National Park

This was a refreshing break from the normal routine. It is a great relaxing tour of the national park which can be done by canter with 16 people or private open jeep. I chose canter over jeep for I thought it is safer to be 16 people in front of tiger instead of 4 in a jeep as these vehicles are open vehicles and not covered by any grill. Please ensure to book either Canter or Jeep through UK tourism official website only as there are lot of private players waiting to mind money.

There are two timings for the safari - morning and evening. I would advise to book an evening safari as the timings are deception. The morning safari starts at 6;00 am, for which we need to leave resort by around 4;30 am, while the evening safari starts at 2;00 pm, for which we need to reach by 12;30 pm. We took the evening safari, which ended by around 4;30 pm. The canter took us to around 35 kms inside the Jungle. The journey itself was exciting, however, be ready for jerks and a bumpy ride.

The first thing you will notice as you reach the gate to board the canter or jeep is the Museum. This has sound and light show, 3D show, exhibition, and some artifacts. It is advisable to see this before the safari as on the way back we might be tired or sometimes disappointed for not seeing any tiger and want to go back at the earliest. There is also a snacks shop for refreshments. We drove till the Dhikala gate and did not avail bus service, for comfort level. This was the boarding point for Canter Safari.

The guides often show tiger paws and just finish the trip stating that it might be an unlucky day for not spotting any tiger. For best results, I advise to take a canter safari if possible, to spot maximum wildlife.

Pictures clicked from the canter. There is also picture near the water body which is   considered as a hunting ground for tiger.

Dhikala zone is the best for tiger seeing and we were lucky to spot a tiger, leopard, barking deer, elephant, wild dog, few species of birds, and swamp deer. In whole, the safari took over five hours. There is a nice museum at the start of the safari with sound and light show and 3D show. This is a must visit for animal lovers.

We stayed at Karma resort, which was around 40 kms away from the safari. The resort was nice with all the amenities. There is a bone fire and games in the evening to keep the guests involved. The restaurant is good with a variety of food options, and one can enjoy a tip in the swimming pool to get refreshed.

We got a visit by a cute monkey, right on the day of our visit.

A few vidoes to share more experiences of our trip.

I hope that you will make a trip to Jim Corbett soon and do your bookings through UK Tourism directly. You can also choose to visit Nainital, if you have one or two days additional as it is less than 100 kms away from Jim Corbett. Have a safe and relaxing safari !!!

If you are planning a trip and need any advice, feel free to drop at note at amitbansal71812@gmail.com. I would be happy to help as much as I can and share my experience.
